Mr. Cecil was the project architect at LaFarge, Knox and Murphy from 1958 to 1962 for the Caneel Bay Plantation, St. John, VI, a Rockefeller Resort. He joined the firm of Philip Ives Associates in 1962, becoming an associate partner in 1964, serving as a designer and project architect for all residential construction and other projects such as the Chapel of St. jude, Washington DC (Honor Design Award for Religious Architecture 1970).

He left the Ives office to practice independently in 1972. In 1972, he was the recipient of a Residential Design Award from the AIA. Mr. Cecil is the former Trustee of the Council of the Arts of Westchester, CT. He is currently a member of the Rye Landmarks Advisory Committee. Mr. Cecil was included in the book American Architects by Les Krantz, published in 1990, whhich profiles the work fo 400 architects practicing in the US. hew applied his life long concern for the ecology to writing a monthly column "About Energy" for House Beautiful from 1978 to 1981.

Mr. Pierce was a designer at Skidmore, Owings and Merrill, Chicago from 1979 to 1983. His time there was divided between smaller office building projects and historic preservation projects (Fallsburg Dam Powerhouse Restoration and a group of infill buildings for the Broad Street Historic District, Boston, MA). While at Skidmore he was the Architectural Designer for the Progressive Architecture award winning entery for the Arcadia Creek Urban Design Plan for Kalamazoo, MI.

In 1983, he moved to New York City and worked for Lockwood Green Architects, as a senior architectural designer. He formed the partnership of Pierce, Tanaguchi Architects in 1984. He and Mr. Cecil formed Cecil Pierce and Associates, Architects in 1986. For the past fifteen years, Mr. Pierce's time has been divided between the design of office interiors and residential projects, both alterations and new construction.
